Eddie Macon's Run is a 1983 drama about a wrongly convicted man who escapes from jail and is pursued by a tireless police officer. Eddie Macon (John Schneider) is convicted and sent to jail on a trumped-up charge while traveling in Alabama. A talented horseman, he manages to escape from jail during a prison rodeo. Hot on his tail, however, is Carl "Buster" Marzack (Kirk Douglas), a small-town lawman intent on catching a man whom he believes is guilty. Macon makes his way towards Laredo, Texas, hoping he will be able to cross into Mexico and reunite with his wife and son. With Marzack in hot pursuit, Macon receives help from a bored housewife named Jilly Buck (Lee Purcell), who is attracted to the handsome and rugged Macon. His heart lies with his family, however. As Marzack draws steadily closer, Macon is forced to take desperate risks in order to get to Mexico and reconnect with his family.
