Edge of Madness is a 2002 drama starring Brendan Fehr and Caroline Dhavernas and based on Alice Munro's short story "A Wilderness Station." The story follows young Annie Herron (Dhavernas), a woman caught in an abusive arranged marriage to a man named Simon Herron (Fehr). Simon beats and rapes his wife, driving her to the brink of insanity. Simon's brother, George, (Corey Sevier), begins to develop feelings for Annie, and tries to convince Simon to stop treating her so harshly. As Simon continues to villainize himself in the eyes of his wife and brother, he becomes the target of their seething hatred which inevitably turns violent. The film features an original score from composer Randolph Peters and is directed by acclaimed Canadian film maker Anne Wheeler. Edge of Madness is a tense drama about a woman forced into a terrible relationship that erodes her sanity to the breaking point.
