Edges of the Lord is a 2001 drama film set in Poland during World War II. The film relates the story of Romek (Haley Joel Osment), a 12-year-old Jewish boy pretending to be Catholic to survive the German invasion. The Nazi effort to eliminate Jews is under way, and Romek's parents fear for his life should he stay with them. Smuggled out-of-town in the dead of night, Romek finds himself living with his parent's Catholic friend, Gneicio (Olaf Lubaszenko), on a farm outside of Krakow. Posing as the Gneicio's Catholic nephew, the blond-haired, blue-eyed Romek blends in to his new community at first. The townsfolk eventually become suspicious when it becomes clear the child has limited knowledge of Catholic prayers and traditions. When the local priest (Willem Dafoe) learns of Romek's plight, he secretly takes the boy under his wing to teach him basic catechism. The priest teaches the boy enough to allow him to blend in successfully, but will Romek be able to hold on to his true Jewish heritage?moreless
