Ek Ruka Hua Faisla is a Hindi language remake of the 1957 award-winning classic American film 12 Angry Men. Released in 1986, this Indian film was produced and directed by Basu Chatterjee, and written by Ranjit Kapur and Basu Chatterjee. Ek Ruka Hua Faisla is the uneasy tale of twelve nameless jurors who must decide the outcome of the trial of a young man accused of killing his father. All but one juror believes the accused is guilty. This lone dissenting juror (played by K. K. Raina), begins a campaign to convince the other men that their decisions are informed more by personal prejudice than by the facts presented during the course of the trial. As the jurors argue the details of the trial, each man's history unfolds, revealing the source of his prejudice. An important film in any language, Ek Ruka Hua Faisla is a tense, claustrophobic drama that explores the timeless and weighty themes of class discrimination, equality and fairness.moreless
