Elmo's World: People in Your Neighborhood is a collection of three episodes of Elmo's World, a segment on Sesame Street. It includes Elmo's World: Doctors, Elmo's World: Firefighters, and Elmo's World: Helping. In the first segment, Dorothy, Elmo's fish, wonders how a doctor uses a stethoscope. Elmo learns all about what happens at a doctor's office when his human friend goes in for a checkup. The boy assures Elmo that the visit was pain-free except for his shot but notes that even the shot did not hurt for very long. In the second portion, Muppet firefighters arrive at Oscar's house when his toast burns. Elmo then wonders what else can burn; he knows, for example, that stoves burn so it is important not to touch them. One of Elmo's friends goes through the motions of a fire drill, and Elmo learns all about the "get low and go" technique. In the last segment, Super Grover arrives to give Elmo a helping hand; the only problem is, Elmo does not need his help. Super Grover leaves but tells Elmo to let him know if Elmo requires his services. Elmo decides that he wants to talk to people in the community who help others and speaks with a lifeguard and a nurse.moreless
