Enigma is a 1983 thriller starring Michael Sheen, Sam Neill, Brigitte Fossey and Kevin McNally. The film was written by Michael Barak and John Briley and directed by Jeannot Szwarc. Enigma centers around an East Berliner, a deft and intelligent man named Alex Holbeck (Martin Sheen) who is recruited by the CIA for work involving a Russian conspiracy theory. It is believed the KGB is planning on murdering five Soviet dissidents on Christmas Day. Alex must stop these assassinations from happening by hacking a Russian enigma code and acquiring top secret information regarding their plot. But as can be expected, his plans goes awry when the Russians learn he is on their tail. Alex then seeks refuge with with friends as the KGB are after him. Is there anyone Alex can trust, including his friends? And will he be able to stop the Russians from murdering the ex-Soviets on Christmas Day?
