    • QUOTES (8)

      • Shaolin Abbott: What is the highest technique you hope to achieve?
        Lee: To have no technique.
Shaolin Abbott: Very good. What are your thoughts when facing an opponent?
        Lee: There is no opponent.
Shaolin Abbott: And why is that?
Lee: Because the word "I" does not exist.

      • Lee: A good fight should be... like a small play, but played seriously. A good martial artist does not become tense, but ready. Not thinking, yet not dreaming. Ready for whatever may come. When the opponent expand, I contract. When he contracts I expand. And when there is an opportunity... I do not hit. (raises fist) It hits all by itself.

      • Lee: Kick me. (Lao throws a kick) What was that? An exhibition? We need emotional content. Try again. (Lao throws another kick) I said emotional content, not anger. Now try again... with me. (Lao throws more kicks) That's it. How did it feel to you?
        Lao: Let me think....
Lee: (Lee slaps Lao's head) Don't think... feel. It is like a finger pointing a way to the moon. (Lee slaps Lao's head again) Don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.

      • Parsons: What's your style?
Lee: My style? You can call it the art of fighting without fighting.

      • Williams: (Williams is given a choice of women to spend the evening with) I'll take you darling. And you. And you. And you. Please understand, if I missed anyone... it's been a big day. I'm a little tired.

      • Lee: (Oharra smashes a wooden board in front of Lee) Boards don't hit back.

      • Han: Your style is unorthodox.
        Williams: But effective.

      • Han: (Lee is captured after wiping out many of Han's men) The battle with the guards was magnificent. Your skill is extraordinary.
