Metacritic Score

  • 90

The New York Times Manohla Dargis

With beauty, mild and sharp jolts, and mesmerizing camerawork, he (Gaspar Noe) tries to open the doors of perception.

  • 90

    Los Angeles Times Robert Abele

Suffice to say, unrelenting material like this isn't for everybody. That it is a gloriously filmic gesture - by turns jaw-dropping, elusive, silly, obnoxious, painful and beautiful...

  • 40

    Variety Rob Nelson

Not clever enough to be truly pretentious.
