Envy is a 2005 indie drama directed by Desmond Walker about two cousins on the drug infested, violent, gritty, gangland streets of modern Detroit. Younger cousin A.J. (Ray J) grows up in a good family, but he is fascinated by and idolizes the gangster lifestyle of his older cousin Caesar (Anthony 'Az' Cruz). Despite his parents' best efforts to keep him off of the streets, as A.J. grows up he becomes a part of his cousin's drug organization and quickly moves up the ranks. With betrayals and informants causing problems from within, Caesar's power is challenged. In order to consolidate and reaffirm his power, Caesar plans to make a major move against rivals, but can he overcome the enemies of greed and ambition from his own ranks, and what effects will younger cousin A.J.'s decision to become a gangster have amid this maelstrom of violence and arrests? This film is not rated but features urban gang-style violence. Also featured are Lisa Raye and Maia Campbell.moreless
