Eragon is a fantasy adventure film directed by Stefen Fangmeier based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Paolini that is set in the country of Alagaesia, a world where dragons and other mythical creatures are not just fiction but fact. When seventeen-year-old Eragon (Edward Speelers) stumbles across a small dragon egg, a rare find, he becomes the surrogate parent to a blue dragon Saphira and the two are now wanted by the cruel King Galbatorix (John Malkovich) as Saphira is believed to be the last female dragon. Running for their lives, Eragon and Saphira gain the help of a wise storyteller Brom (Jeremy Irons), a sneaky fighter Murtagh (Garrett Hedlund), and a haughty elf Arya (Sienna Guillory), who teach Eragon the ways of the legendary Dragon Riders. In a time of fear and magic, Eragon and Saphira have to decide whether to take on the treacherous King and his powerful minions or to become a pawn in Galbatorix's bid for power.
