Essex Boys is the 2000 British crime drama about a criminal trying to go home again. After being released from prison, Jason Locke (Sean Bean) wants to go back to his neighborhood and pick up where he left off, taking control over the crime world in which he was raised. He confronts local drug dealer John Dyke (Tom Wilkinson). Together the two strike a deal that will help Jason climb back to the top of a dark world, if it doesn't kill him first. Based on real events in the 1995 British underworld, it offers an intense and suspenseful look at the emotions, relationships, and strategic thinking of a seedy part of society. In the interests of claiming control over the drug marketing and distribution within their neighborhoods, the circles of competing dealers make clear that there isn't room for competition, and they will stop at nothing to claim control, even if it means murder.
