Everybody's Famous is a 2000 Dutch-language comedy directed by Dominique Deruddere. Jean (Josse De Pauw), a bottle factory laborer, lives in a small Belgian community with his wife Chantal (Gert Portael) and his overweight teenage daughter, Marva (Eva van der Gucht). Marva has big dreams of becoming a famous pop singer, but her good voice is overshadowed by her weight and her lack of social skills. Jean, who writes music in his spare time, wants to help Marva get to the top. Opportunity knocks when he accidentally meets Debbie (Thekla Reuten), a world-renowned pop star. Jean clumsily kidnaps Debbie and vows he will only release her when Debbie's manager, Michael (Victor Low), gives Marva the chance to show off her singing skills on national television. The only problem is that Michael might not mind that Debbie's gone. This riotous comedy debuted at the 2000 Venice Film Festival and received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
