Leigh plays Allegra Geller, a famous game designer known for her work in alternate reality games. Her games take the player out of the real world and put their mind inside a new world of her design, where they have particular objectives and assume the role of a character. Her latest game, eXistenZ, promises to forever change the players' perception of reality. However, a group of militant resistance fighters calling themselves Realists want to stop Allegra's further distortion of reality, and they're willing to use any means necessary. eXistenZ is a mind-bending thrill-ride with a talented supporting cast, including Ian Holm and Willem Dafoe.

    Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

The Cronenberg trademarks are here in full force, including an outrageous sexual suggestiveness in his bizarre special effects.

    Variety David Stratton
