eXistenZ is a 1999 science fiction thriller from director David Cronenberg and starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law in a story about two people running for their lives after the release of an immersive new video game has people questioning what is and is not reality. Leigh plays Allegra Geller, a famous game designer known for her work in alternate reality games. Her games take the player out of the real world and put their mind inside a new world of her design, where they have particular objectives and assume the role of a character. Her latest game, eXistenZ, promises to forever change the players' perception of reality. However, a group of militant resistance fighters calling themselves Realists want to stop Allegra's further distortion of reality, and they're willing to use any means necessary. eXistenZ is a mind-bending thrill-ride with a talented supporting cast, including Ian Holm and Willem Dafoe.
