Eye of the Beholder is a 1999 thriller adaptation of the Marc Behm novel written and directed by Stephan Elliot. The Eye (Ewan McGregor) is an intelligence agent on assignment tracking the missing son of his boss when he encounters the elusive and deadly Joanna Eris (Ashley Judd), a serial killer. Eris murders the son, with the Eye as a witness, but instead of turning her in, he begins to obsessively track her movements across the country over the course of the next ten years. Over the years, the Eye becomes Eris' unknown protector, who she dubs 'The Angel', and finds himself personally bonded to the mysterious woman he has never actually met. When Eris seemly encounters love and potential happiness, the Eye takes steps to destroy the new relationship, despite the devastating effects upon the woman he loves. As the law closes in upon Eris, the Eye takes steps to protect her, setting their path on an inevitable collision course.moreless
