Eye of the Stranger

Movie Summary

Director:
David Heavener
Released:
2004
Rating:
R
Eye of the Stranger is a modern drama which draws on elements from classic western film. The movie centers around a lawless county set in the west in which a greedy, immoral mayor steals land and property from its rightful owners. The film was both written and directed by David Heavener (Dawn of the Living Dead, Legion: The Final Exorcism). Mayor Howard Baines (Martin Landau) shows no mercy in exploiting his authority over the people of his town - he ruthlessly coaxes unprotected civilians into selling him their properties. Heads spin when a lawyer advocating civil rights is found dead. A nomadic man (David Heavener) wanders into town and becomes intrigued by the mysterious murder, not to mention, the lack of civil rights in this backwards town. The locals are hopeful this brave stranger will stand for justice and help establish civil rights for all. The film includes performances by Joe Estevez, Sally Kirkland, and Don Swayze, among several other known actors. A definite must-see for all those who revel in western film.moreless
