Fabulous Texan, also known as The Texas Uprising, is a 1947 black and white film about a pair of Confederate soldiers returning home after the Civil War to find their beloved Texas much different than how they left it. The soldiers, Jim McWade (Bill Elliot) and John Wesley Baker (John Carroll), find Texas being run by a quasi-dictator, General Gibson Hart (Albert Dekker), working to gather land and power as fast as he can. Complicating matters for the pair, Wes is in love with Jim's fiancee, Alice Sharp (Catherine McCleod). Wes also clashes with General Hart after the General has Wes's father killed for fomenting revolution. Wes retaliates by forming a lawless gang. However, his buddy Jim is made a Marshall tasked with imposing order on their increasingly dangerous town. Fabulous Texan is a tense and compelling tale of two men with different methods for defeating General Hart and winning the women they love.
