The Face of Marble follows Dr. Charles Randolph (John Carradine) as he attempts to return life to dead tissue with the help of his assistant David Cochran (Robert Shayne). The two attempt to keep the exact nature of the experiments a secret, but they're spotted sneaking a corpse into the laboratory late one night and Randolph's wife, Elaine (Claudia Drake), investigates. Elaine is scared by her husband's work and it's terrifying side effects. The maid Maria (Rosa Rey) is devoted to her mistress and, more than anything else, she wants her to be happy. She feels Elaine must have feelings for the younger, more attentive Cochran and begins practicing voodoo magic to make the scientist fall in love. Cochran has already given his heart to another and Randolph manages to bring Linda (Maris Wrixon) to visit. Maria quickly comes up with plots to remove what she sees as an obstacle to her mistress' happiness.
