Fag Hag is a comedy written and directed by Damion Dietz that was released in 1998. The film takes place in the fictional Los Angeles suburb of Hot Springs. There, Destiny Rutt (Stephanie Kirchen) is a suburban socialite in her early twenties. Her only goal in life is to enter and win a beauty pageant, which she believes will open all the doors to her future. She befriends Scott Bushey (Damion Dietz) a homosexual compulsive liar, who works full time for a Christian bookstore. The two quickly become inseparable and Scott is overjoyed to have his very own "fag hag" who is happy to believe his lies. The film is filled with cynical humor which pokes fun at the gay community, American pop culture, and the pageant industry. Though both characters manipulate the truth to get what they want most, the audience is allowed in on their dirty little secrets through voice over dialogues, and flashbacks.
