Fallen Angel is a 1945 film noir about the misfortunes of a drifter caught between two lovers. Eric Stanton (Dana Andrews) is a broke and dejected press agent who is thrown off a cross-country bus when he can't come up with the fare. Stranded in a dreary little coastal town, Eric wanders into a diner called Pop's Eats. He meets Stella (Linda Darnell), a sultry yet unsentimental waitress who often steals from the cash register. Eric smooth-talks his way into a job with a travelling fortune-teller (John Carradine). Now working as a s''ance promoter, Eric meets a wealthy spinster (Anne Revere) and her younger sister, June (Alice Faye). Though Eric still pursues Stella, he knows he is not rich enough to make her happy. He concocts a plan to marry lonely June, embezzle the family's wealth, file for divorce and finally marry Stella. With the scheme underway, one woman turns up murdered, and Eric is everybody's prime-suspect.
