Family Plot is a 1976 black comedy thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock. This is also the last feature film Hitchcock directed before his death. A fake psychic, Blanche Tyler (Barbara Harris), and her taxi-cab driver boyfriend, George Lumley (Bruce Dern), are hired by wealthy spinster, Blanche Rainbird (Cathleen Nesbitt), to locate her deceased sister's son, Arthur Adamson (William Devane). Arthur was given up for adoption at birth, which leaves Rainbird with no other living heir. The trail leads Blanche and George to San Francisco, where Arthur is a successful jeweler with a seedy past. He and his girlfriend, Fran (Karen Black), are behind a series of bay area millionaire kidnappings in which the ransom is a precious gemstone. Once Arthur and Karen discover that the couple are on their tail, they mistakenly believe its related to the kidnappings. Because of the misunderstanding, Blanche and George have unwittingly put their own lives in danger.
