Far Cry is a 2008 science-fiction film directed by Uwe Boll. The film is an adaptation of the 1st person-shooter game of the same name. In the film, Valerie Cardinal (Emmanuelle Vaugier) is an award-winning journalist who is investigating a story on a mysterious island in the Pacific Northwest. Due to the dangerous territory Valerie feels it necessary to hire a bodyguard to escort her to the island. She hires Jack Carver (Til Schweiger) an ex-Special Forces officer who is now working as muscle-for-hire. After introductions the duo set out to the island. As soon as they near the island, it becomes clear Valerie's instincts to hire an escort were right. The boat they are traveling in is attacked by mercenaries and Carver works against the group to save Valerie and himself. In order to leave the island, Jack is going to have to find out why the island is so heavily guarded and what secret lies there.moreless
