Far From Home is a 1989 suspense thriller film starring Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Tilly. Charlie Cox (Matt Frewer) is a divorced writer on his way home from a cross-country road trip when he and his daughter Joleen (Barrymore) run out of gas in Banco, Nevada. When Joleen discovers a dead shopkeeper in a nearby grocery store, she and Charlie realize that something in the town is amiss. Unfortunately the town gas station is out of gas, so they check into a local motel with a curious cast of characters staying as guests. The motel's owner, Agnes Reed (Susan Tyrell) is an abusive mother to Jimmy (Andras Jones). Agnes is mysteriously killed, and the next day Jimmy attempts to rape Joleen while she sleeps. When one of the guests at the motel is blown up, Joleen and Charlie go on a hunt for the killer. When it is discovered that the killer is in love with Joleen, a stand off on a nearby radio tower leads to a gruesome death.
