PG-13

Fast & Furious is the fourth film installment of The Fast and the Furious adrenaline packed, street racing film franchise. The 2009 film reunites the stars of the original cast, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordan Brewster. The film, directed by Justin Lin (Fast Five, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), follows the fugitive character of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his new crew who are working in the Dominican Republic stealing oil tankers. But after a phone call from his sister Mia (Jordan Brewster) in the States, Toretto leaves the Dominican to head to Los Angeles to track down the killer of Letty (Michelle Rodriquez), the love of his life. At the same time, FBI agent Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) is trying to track down a notorious drug dealer. It is this hunt that will ultimately bring the two estranged friends back together when they both realize they are chasing the same man. This is also the first film in the franchise to put an emphasis on American muscle cars rather than foreign imports.

Metacritic Score

  • 70

    Los Angeles Times

Fast & Furious is, in a very bizarre way, a thing of gasp-inducing artistry to watch, even if you're not a member of the NASCAR, gear-head, street-racing crowd.

  • 50

The New York Times Nathan Lee

    Inoffensive if uninspired.

  • 20

    Variety Todd McCarthy

A series that's provided a successful, moderately enjoyable ride up to now blows its tires, gasket and transmission on its way to flaming out in Fast & Furious.
