Fast and Loose is a 1954 British comedic film directed by Gordon Parry and starring Stanley Holloway, Kay Kendall, Brian Reece, Joan Young, and Fabia Drake. When Peter (Reece) and Barbara (June Thorburn) set off on the train for a weekend getaway, they accidentally become separated. Peter steps off the train to say hi to an old friend Carol (Kendall), but when he turns around, the train has already left with Barbara on it. Peter and Carol go back to his apartment and set off to meet Barbara in his car. When the car breaks down, they are forced to rent a room in a motel run by Gladys (Vida Hope), who strongly disapproves of premarital cohabitation. Unfortunately there is only one room available at the inn, and so Peter must then find a place to sleep throughout the night. The debacle becomes more ridiculous when Barbara's parents and Carol's husband all show up at the inn demanding answers. This over-the-top comedy is based on a play by Ben Travers.moreless
