Fat Albert is a 2004 live action family comedy directed by Joel Zwick. Written by Bill Cosby and Charles Kipps, it was adapted from Cosby's classic 1972 animated series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. The film follows Fat Albert (Kenan Thompson) and his friends Mushmouth (Jermaine Williams), Rudy (Shedrack Anderson III), Bill (Keith D. Robinson), Dumb Donald (Marques B. Houston) and Weird Harold (Aaron A. Frazier) as they escape from their cartoon world and into the reality of 21st century Philadelphia. When they meet Doris (Kyla Pratt), a shy and lonely girl, they make it their mission to help her make friends and feel better about herself. Making friends and fitting in turns out to be harder than they expect, and the cartoon gang has a hard time adapting to the new world's culture - and its three spatial dimensions! The Junkyard Gang begins to worry when Fat Albert falls for Doris's older sister, Lauri (Dani Ramirez), and they fear he may not want to return to the world where he belongs. Fat Albert is a charming fish-out-of-water family comedy that teaches the importance of friendship.moreless
