Fatal Memories is a 1992 film directed by Daryl Duke and based on actual events. In her 20s, Eileen Lipsker Franklin (Shelley Long) can remember that her father, George (Duncan Fraser), was alcoholic and often unpleasant. However, during therapy sessions, new memories begin to emerge with startling and disturbing clarity. Eileen begins to remember her father's abuse towards her. As the vivid and terrible memories come back, Eileen has to struggle with the realization that she may have had repressed memories, due to the trauma of the events she experienced as a child. Even worse, Eileen can now recall something that cannot be kept hidden: a murder that occured 21 years earlier. As an 8-year-old, Eileen watched helplessly as her father murdered her young friend, Susan (Caroline Elliott). Now, the young woman has a family of her own, but she is determined to avenge her young friend and bring her father to justice for the crimes he has apparently kept hidden.moreless
