Father and Son is a gripping tale of family bonds and the often harsh reality of people growing apart. For many years, a father (Andrei Shchetinin) and son, Aleksei, (Aleksei Neymyshev) have lived together in a rooftop apartment. Through the years, they have created their own private world of memories, habits, and rituals which punctuate their daily routines. When Aleksei decides to follow in his father's footsteps and attend military school, he finds himself torn by wishing to return to his predictable life with his father and yet being fascinated by the new experiences found with independence. Things become even more complicated for Aleksei when he falls in love with a girl (Marina Zasukhina) who feels a growing jealousy of his devotion for his father. In the battle of Aleksei's affections, who will hold a stronger sway over the conflicted young man? With a nuanced cast of characters, Father and Son is a moving drama that explores the nature of familiarity and the grip it holds over people.moreless
