Fear X is a 2003 thriller starring John Turturo as Harry, a man haunted to the brink of insanity by the unsolved murder of his wife. The murder took place at the mall where Harry works as a security guard and her death was written off as a random, unfortunate accident. Plagued by guilt and grief, Harry obsesses over solving the murder and discovering the truth about what happened that day. He watches all the security tapes from that day over and over again, amassing lists of suspects and systematically following all leads. What follows in the film is a mix between Harry's dangerous hunt for the murderer responsible and his own downward spiral into his all-encompassing sorrow. The film is directed by acclaimed Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, who rose to international popularity following the success of 1996's Pusher.
