Felicia's Journey is a 1999 feature film directed by Atom Egoyan. It is based on a book of the same name by William Trevor. The movie follows Felicia (Elaine Cassidy) as she travels to find the man who made her pregnant. While she is in England, a middle-aged man, named Joseph Hilditch (Bob Hoskins), offers to help her. Although he appears to be kindly, he actually has very sinister motives. Much of the movie features flashbacks of the past, showing how the characters got to be where they currently are. This includes the story of Felicia's boyfriend, Johnny (Peter McDonald), who moved to England to get a job in a lawnmower factory but ends up in the English army. It also shows Felicia's father (Gerard McSorley), who does not approve of an Irishman who joins the British army. As the plot progresses, Mr. Hilditch schemes of a way to take advantage of the hapless Felicia and starts off by stealing her money. Felicia finds help at a Jamaican Church, but then blames the other guests there of stealing her money. She flees to Mr. Hilditch's house, where things start to go downhill quickly, until the Jamaican preacher unexpectedly arrives at Mr. Hilditch's front lawn.moreless
