Felicity Merriman, the fourth character in American Girl's popular line of historical dolls and books, is the central character in this heartwarming family drama set in the time leading up to the American Revolution . Ten-year-old Felicity resides with her Patriot family in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, during the year of 1775, where she befriends Elizabeth, a young girl from a Loyalist family. In the passing year, Felicity embarks on many adventures that test both her loyalty and courage revolving around friends, family and the coming revolution.
  • Meet the rambuncious Felicity of the American Girl book series

At first, I wasn't all that familar the characters of the "American Girls" book series, but after viewing the movie about how the Merriman family lived throught time before the American Revolution, I found the plot of the story very interesting. I also enjoyed the acting by the main stars of the movie. I believe that Shailene Woodley did a great job protraying the feisty Felicity, who isn't afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she believes in, even thought she lived in a time when women were supposed to be seen, and not heard. Also about this movie that I enjoyed is how Felicity was always able to find love in her heart for those around her who might have done harm to those who she is close to, or who might have a different view of the pending war between the Colonies and the King's rule of them. This is something that is nice to see, because her parents raised her to be unbiased and open-minded to the people whom she lives around in Colonial Williamsburg. Another thing that I liked about the movie was how, to me, Felicity's sister stole some of the scenes that she was in with some of the comments that she made. In all, I really enjoyed watching the movie.moreless
