Movie Summary

Ric Roman Waugh
Felon is a drama film starring Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer about a man unrightfully accused of manslaughter who is sentenced to several years in prison. Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff) is a happy man: with a successful business, a wonderful girlfriend Laura (Marisol Nichols), and an adorable son named Michael, whats not to love? Unfortunately, Porter's life changes drastically from one night to the next, literally, when an intruder breaks into his house. Porter, in self-defense, goes after the intruder with a baseball bat and hits him over the head, hoping to knock him unconscious; however, the blow to the head accidentally kills him. The judge who oversees Porter's case does not accept his plea of self-defense, and charges him with involuntary manslaughter instead. Porter is admitted to prison, where he rooms with a man named John Smith (Val Kilmer) - an ex serial killer. He learns John Smith is more humane than one would imagine, despite the atrocious acts he committed in his previous life. Sadly, Porter is frequently housed inside the SHU, or Segregated Housing Unit where is is shackled and confined to a small, tight room. In such restrictive space, Porter has nothing to turn to but the thoughts within his mind. A compelling story based on true events, this is a movie you don't want to miss.moreless
