Fever Pitch is a comedy about a man who has to choose between his love for a baseball team and his love for a new woman in his life. Ben Wrightman (Jimmy Fallon) has been a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox ever since he was a young boy. Years later, Ben is a schoolteacher whose entire life is still centered around attending Red Sox games. One day, he meets a young woman named Lindsey Meeks (Drew Barrymore) and the two immediately click. They begin dating and Lindsey is charmed by Ben's devotion to his team. Eventually, though, she begins to tire of it, especially when Ben decides not to accompany Lindsey on a trip to Paris because the Red Sox are in the middle of a furious playoff race. Realizing that Ben is not going to change, the two decide to take a break. Will Ben's love for Lindsey be strong enough to overcome his love for the Red Sox, or will she decide to accept him as he is?moreless

New York Daily News Jack Mathews

A sweetly hilarious romantic comedy about a soccer fan whose favorite pro team's unexpected success threatens to push him over the edge.

  • 70

    Washington Post Desson Thomson

If you don't operate on the premise that soccer is the most important thing in the universe, you might not go along with everything in Fever Pitch.

  • 50

    The New York Times

Just because a first-person analysis of a sociocultural phenomenon is fascinating in print, it should not necessarily be turned into a movie.
