2006
Rating:
R

Fido is a 2006 horror comedy which plays like a Romero zombie movie cross pollinated with a 40s suburban sitcom. In the wake of space dust having resurrected the dead, an apocalyptic war was waged against the reanimated wherein the living were able to safely gate themselves off from the zombies and go about some semblance of their former lives. A scientist for Zomcom, the government agency assisting with the epidemic, invented a collar that has allowed a reintegration of the undead as public servants. The film follows a suburbanite family, the Robinsons, in the town of Willard (a nod to the original Night of the Living Dead), that purchases their very own zombie ' the titular Fido (Billy Connolly). Carrie-Annie Moss (The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, Memento) and Dylan Baker (Delirious, Spider Man II) play mom and dad Robinson. Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother Where Art Thou, Minority Report) is a hoot as the neighbor Mr. Theopolis with the sexy zombie girlfriend "Tammy," and Henry Czerny (Mission: Impossible, The A-Team) is also great as a neighborhood dad.
