Fighting Mad is a 1939 adventure film directed by Sam Newfield and based on a novel written by Laurie York Erskine. The story revolves around brave Canadian Mounted Police Sergeant Renfrew (James Newill) and his partner, Sergeant Kelly (Dave O'Brien), who come across ruthless American gang leader Cardigan (Milburn Stone) and his crew of outlaws. Ann Fenwick (Sally Blane) unwillingly takes part in a bank robbery pulled by Trigger (Warner Richmond) and Leon (Ted Adams). The gangsters kidnap her so that she does not reveal their identity. The robbers smuggle the money into Canada and they hold Ann hostage in a trailer where the loot is deposited. Meanwhile, the town police are looking for her as a crime witness. When the trailer falls into the lake by accident, Sergeant Renfrew steps in and rescues the woman. Afraid that she will be arrested, Ann lies about her name and tries to escape with the money. Pursued by Cardigan and his gangsters, Renfrew and Ann are captured and held hostage as the outlaws try to find out where the lost loot is stashed. Fortunately, Sergeant Kelly who returns after being sent for help, is vigilant and ready to move in to save his partner.moreless
