Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is the first movie produced by Square Pictures using revolutionary, life-like CGI techniques. In the year 2065, Earth is infested by a group of alien life forms, called Phantoms, that can kill a person instantly through physical contact. A young scientist, Dr. Aki Ross (voiced by Ming-Na Wen) and her mentor, Dr. Sid (voiced by Donald Sutherland), have found a way to peacefully eradicate the Phantoms after Aki becomes infected by one of the Phantoms. However, General Hein (voiced by James Woods) is plotting a more destructive way of defeating the Phantoms. With the help of Aki's old friend Grey Edwards (voiced by Alec Baldwin) and the squad that he leads, the Deep Eyes, they race to finish the puzzle to liberate Earth. Unfortunately, Hein's patience has run out and sets forth a plot to destroy the Phantoms once and for all, even if it means the death of many innocent people and the destruction of Earth itself.moreless
