Finding North follows Rhonda (Wendy Makkena) and her relationship with Travis (John Benjamin Hickey). Rhonda has just celebrated turning 30 with her coworkers at her bank, only to get a pink slip for a gift. Jobless and depressed, she meets Travis as he's contemplating jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge. Travis recently lost his boyfriend Bobby, who died from AIDS-related complications. Before he died, Bobby sent Travis an audio tape with instructions for a scavenger hunt that will take him to Bobby's home town in Texas. With no job, no boyfriend, and not a lot going on, Rhonda decides join Travis on his quest. Not realizing her companion is gay leads to some romantic complications on the way as they follow Bobby's instructions and collect items that tell his life story. The two work to fulfill Bobby's last wishes and, hopefully, find their own way out of their depression. Tanya Wexler makes her directorial debut with this 1998 film.
