Finishing the Game tells the story of the death of arguably one of the greatest action movie stars of all time, Bruce Lee. Having risen to popularity via a slew of immensely popular martial arts movies, his death came only slightly into the filming of what was to be his next motion picture, Game of Death. Finishing the Game chronicles the aftermath of his passing and the desperate struggle to find a replacement in order to complete last unfinished film. Having only shot about twelve minutes of footage, the producers and directors knew it would be a daunting task to replace such an acclaimed actor and talented martial artist. This independent comedy pits five contenders for the spotlight against each other as they attempt to fill the shoes of Bruce Lee. Supporting actors include Martey Kurtainbaum (Sam Bottoms), Breeze Loo (Roger Fan), Cole Kim (Sung Kang), and Ronney Kurtainbaum (Jake Sandvig).

Metacritic Score

  • 40

The New York Times Jeannette Catsoulis

A faux documentary grounded in ethnicity and mired in absurdity, Finishing the Game is a terrific idea still waiting to be fashioned into a real movie.

  • 40

    Los Angeles Times

Only intermittently funny at best, but mostly full of dead air, the film is a let-down on both fronts.

  • 25

    Entertainment Weekly Owen Gleiberman

The film completely misses what should have been its real target -- the filming of Game of Death, a martial-arts campfest worthy of Edward D. Wood Jr.
