Finn's Girl is a 2007 drama that blends together many intriguing and powerful issues. Dr. Finn Jeffries (Brooke Johnson) lives in Canada, happily married to her partner Nancy (Gail Maurice). Nancy is the founder of an abortion clinic that receives a fair amount of negative attention from pro-life protestors. Finn and Nancy also raise a daughter together, 11-year-old Zelly (Maya Ritter). Zelly is Nancy's biological daughter from a previous marriage, but when Nancy tragically dies, Finn becomes Zelly's only mother. While struggling with the grief of losing her wife, Finn has to try to provide a loving home for her daughter and successfully manage the abortion clinic Nancy founded. Zelly, missing Nancy, has turned to increasingly dangerous behavior, experimenting with drugs and shoplifting. Finn finds it difficult to deal with Zelly's rebellion, especially since the death threats from the clinic's protestors mean that Finn has to go to work with a police escort every day. Finn and Zelly must find peace with each other, but this is complicated by the discovery of family secrets.moreless
