Fire Down Below is a 1957 film starring Rita Hayworth, Jack Lemmon, and Robert Mitchum. The movie is based on a book of the same title by Max Catto. Critically-acclaimed filmmaker Robert Parrish directs. Tony (Jack Lemmon) and Felix (Robert Mitchum) are two wayward Korean War veterans who spend most of their time aboard a small boat, the Ruby, sailing the Caribbean seas, imbibing heavily in alcohol. They are approached by a friend one day who asks them to transport a passport-less European woman named Irena (Rita Hayworth) from one island to another. Both men fall head over heals for the stunning passenger - so much so, that they begin lying to one another, ultimately compromising their friendship. Tony aborts mission in a fit, swearing to never speak to Felix as he picks up another job on a cargo ship. But during a scary turn of events, Tony's ship is set aflame and the only person left to save him is Felix - his ex best friend. Will Felix make every attempt to save his ex best friend, or are the wounds still too fresh?moreless
