Fire With Fire is a 1986 teen romance directed by Duncan Gibbons. Joe Fisk (Craig Sheffer) is a streetwise juvenile delinquent serving a prison sentence at a teenage prison reformatory. As he is walking through the Oregon forest near his detention center, he meets beautiful Lisa Taylor (Virginia Madsen) as she is floating serenely in a lake. Lisa is a Catholic school student who is working on an assignment about Ophelia, the ill-fated girlfriend from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Just like star-crossed lovers in a Shakespearean play, the two very different teens soon fall deeply in love, sharing secret meetings and telephone calls. As Joe and Lisa face opposition from the nuns at Lisa's school, the prison camp boss (Jon Polito), and their parents, they must fight to stay together against all odds. Fire With Fire is a beautiful depiction of the innocence and passion of teenage love, featuring a memorable soundtrack by composer Howard Shore.
