Firestarter is the 1984 adaptation of the popular pyrokinetic Stephen King potboiler, directed by Mark L. Lester (Class of 1984, Commando, Armed and Dangerous, Class of 1999, Showdown in LittleTokyo). Charlie McGee (Drew Barrymore, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Never Been Kissed) is a little girl possessing a supernatural ability to create fires and explosions simply by the power of her will. Her father Andy (David Keith) has the ability to create mental domination over others. This, along with the dangerous powers of Charlie, is due to the lingering effects of a college drug experiment conducted by a secret government agency -The Shop. His wife Vicky (Heather Locklear) was murdered by agents from The Shop, and father and daughter find themselves on the run against the determined government outfit, lead by Captain Hollister (Martin Sheen). John Rainbird (George C.Scott) is the lethal exterminator for The Shop. Andrew knows they want to conduct experiments on himself and Charlene for their own nefarious purposes and is determined not to let The Shop get hold of them...moreless
