First Kid is a children's comedy film that centers around the President's son, Luke Davenport (Robert Guillaume). At 13-years-old, Luke's behavior is out of control, which makes bodyguards not want to work for him and his father, President Paul Davenport (James Naughton). Sam Simms (Sinbad) is a bodyguard who reluctantly agrees to protect Luke, seeing it as a way to get closer to the President. At first, the two do not get along, but after spending some time together, they become attached. On the night of a school dance, Sam helps to sneak Luke out of the house so he can attend the dance. However, Luke gets into a fight with the school bully, Rob (Zachery Ty Bryan) and Sam's disloyalty to the President is revealed. He is immediately fired and Luke is placed under house arrest. But when Luke is kidnapped by an unlikely suspect, Sam is rehired and given the job to find and safely bring him home. Sam soon finds himself in a dangerous situation that may put his own life in jeopardy.
