Directed by Henry Hathaway, Five Card Stud is a 1968 American Western starring Dean Martin, Robert Mitchum, Inger Stevens, and Roddy McDowall. The film tells the story of Van Morgan (Martin), as he unsuccessfully tries to save the life of a stranger who is caught cheating playing in a game of five-card stud in the small town of Rincon, Colorado. Van later hears about another murder and discovers that the dead was also one of the players. As the killer seeks out all of the players, tensions mount between the few left alive. Van must then kill or be killed as he tries to discover the identity of the poker game killer. Meanwhile, Jonathan Rudd (Mitchum), a gun-toting preacher, and Lily Langford (Stevens) are two gold seekers who have come to Rincon in hopes of making it rich. They get caught up in the murders and must save their own lives by befriending Van. When only two of the members of the game are left, the identity of the killer becomes clear.moreless
