Five On The Black Hand Side is a 1973 Blaxploitation comedy about a domineering father who faces rebellion from his family. Mr. Brooks (Leonard Jackson) is a barbershop owner who rules his home with an iron fist. His docile wife Mrs. Brooks (Clarice Taylor), sons Booker T. (D'Urville Martin), Gideon (Glynn Turman), and his daughter Gail (Bonnie Banfield) have had enough of his rules and outdated ways of thinking. With the nudging of neighbors Ruby (Virginia Capers) and Stormy Monday (Ja'net Dubois), Mrs. Brooks put her foot down and demands her rights. His grown children follow suit and rebel against their father's overbearing behavior. Shocked at his family's new found defiance, Mr. Brooks find himself in the middle of a perpetual stalemate with neither side willing to budge. Mr. Brooks finds himself entrenched even deeper into his position once he realizes his wife and daughter have joined the women's liberation movement. The family must try to reach a truce before their relationship becomes irreparably fractured.moreless
