Five Savage Men,' also known as 'The Animals' and 'The Desperados' is a 1970 American Western film starring Michele Carey as the young schoolteacher Alice McAndrew. Alice is heading out West to her new home on the same stagecoach as a criminal named Pudge Elliot (Keenan Wynn). Four outlaw friends of Pudge attack the stagecoach to free him and then kidnap Alice, taking her out into the empty desert where they all gang rape her and leave her for dead. However Alice doesn't die and instead is rescued and nursed back to health by an Apache Indian chief named Chatto (Henry Silva). Chatto teaches Alice the ways of the Apache and the two of them go off to find the rapists and exact revenge upon them for the awful deed they did. While perhaps shocking for its time in the early 70s, those looking for graphic violence or sex would best look elsewhere, as this film is rather tame, even with the plot and events occurring within it.moreless
