During a plane trip, Flash and Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) crash land near the home of Dr. Hans Zarkov (Topol). He tells them that the natural disasters are being caused by an alien force. Zarkov tricks Flash and Dale into a spaceship he has built and together they travel into space, where they are captured by Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow). A vicious tyrant, Ming has decided to destroy the Earth for sport with the able assistance of his chief henchman, Klytus (Peter Wyngarde).
