Flick is a fast-paced, comic book-style horror film from 2008. Opening in the late 1950s, Johnny "Flick" Taylor (Hugh O'Conor) is a shy, stammering teenager with a gift for dancing and in love with the beautiful young Sally (Hayley Angel Wardle). When he finally builds up the nerve to ask Sally to dance, his efforts are thwarted by a band of local bullies. Nicknamed Flick because of his fondness for knives, things turn violent and Johnny escapes in his car with Sally. Unfortunately, the car eventually swerves out of control and the pair are plunged into the local harbor. Sally survives but Johnny does not. Forty years later, when the water is dredged, Johnny comes back alive, inspired by the tunes of a contemporary rock-a-billy radio station. Johnny is bent on getting revenge on the bullies who caused his death and finally stealing a kiss from Sally. Trying to stop this madness is a one-armed cop, Lieutenant McKenzie (Faye Dunaway), on loan from a precinct in Memphis, Tennessee. This stylish, low-budget film is the first-time effort from writer/director David Howard.moreless
