Flicka is a 2006 movie adapted from the popular children's novel My Friend Flicka by Mary O'Hara. Katy McLaughlin (Alison Lohman) has dreams of taking over her father's Wyoming horse ranch one day, but instead her father Rob (Tim McGraw) sends her to a fancy private school. Rob plans to let Katy's older brother Howard (Ryan Kwanted) be the caretaker of the ranch. When Katy comes home for the summer, she befriends a wild mustang and names him Flicka. Rob disapproves of Flicka and forbids Katy from bringing him near the ranch, for fear of being a bad example for the other horses. When Rob finds out that Katy has been disobeying him, he sells Flicka to a local rodeo. Katy, Howard, and their mother Nell (Maria Bello) are furious with Rob. Katy then plots a way to get him back. When Rob realizes that damage that he has done to the family, he carefully finds a way to make it up to them. Also starring Danny Pino, Dallas Roberts, Kaylee DeFer, and Jeffrey Nordling, Flicka was directed by Michael Mayer.moreless
