The Flight of the Innocent is a dark and emotional Italian film about a young boy caught in the cross hairs of a family embroiled in crime. In Calabria, Italy, ten year old Vito (Manuel Colao) is the youngest of a family that makes their living by kidnapping kids and collecting the ransom. But theirs is not the only family in town running this game, so when a dispute over ransom money for a wealthy, young, Sienese boy goes wrong, Vito's family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole survivor. The hopeful and idealistic boy realizes the boy is dead, and wants to find his family, but he also realizes that the remaining members of the rival family are after him. Vito flees to Rome, in a desperate race to tell the victim's family the truth, all the while averting a gruesome death himself. Carlo Carlei writes and directs this grim tale about a young idealistic boy seeking a way out of a life of despair and destruction.moreless
