Fly Me to the Moon is an animated adventure produced in 2008 by nWave Pictures, Illuminat Pictures, and uFilm. Ben Strassen directs and Trevor Gagnon, Philip Bolden, David Gore, Christopher Lloyd, Kelly Ripa, and Tim Curry lend their voices to his family feature. It is 1969 and as the United States races to place the first man on the moon, our three heroes, Nat (Trevor Gagnon), I.Q. (Philip Bolden), and Scooter (David Gore), plan to be the first flies on the moon as they try to join the astronauts on their flight. Ever since Nat heard his daredevil Grandpa (Christopher Lloyd) tell about flying along with Amelia Earhart on her historic flight across the Atlantic, he has yearned to do something great. Nat manages to sneak past his mom (Kelly Ripa) and get the trio aboard Apollo 11, but this is just the beginning of the many obstacles to come. Add in the astonauts trying to eliminate the contamination along with Russian spy Yegor (Tim Curry) trying to sabotage the mission and this could be more than the young insects can handle.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 50

    Variety

It's a wingless exercise, despite a rather heartening attitude toward space travel that will introduce young auds to the glory that was NASA in the '60s.

  • 40

    Los Angeles Times

This oddly paced kids' entertainment displays flashes of intelligence -- then misspells terms on NASA control panels.

  • 30

The New York Times Nathan Lee

One of the most undermotivated plots in many a moon, the zero-wit, zero-gravity misadventures of Nat, I.Q. and Scooter are embarked on merely because they're bored on their garbage...
